Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

We have concluded our first six weeks of school, and progress reports are being mailed today! If your student has low grades in any class, please encourage him or her to check in with that teacher and to utilize the Friday sessions to get extra help and support.

Any students with Ds or Fs in any course will be invited to attend a 6 week cycle of Friday sessions so that they get the extra time that they need in order to be successful. If you are a parent of a Senior, please be aware that the Seniors (only) were allowed to leave campus after lunch and miss session C if they were not invited to it. However, now that progress reports are out, any Senior who has a D or F in any class including Internship or Community Service, will be required to stay at school and attend session C until the next grading period proves they have brought their grades up. This commitment is not intended to be punitive, rather our goal is to be supportive and to partner with parents to ensure that all seniors graduate from New Tech on time with a diploma.

The Friday sessions are going very well, and I hope you've heard great things about the opportunities your students have to work in groups together, attend workshops with teachers if they need extra help, and to participate in enrichment activities such as P.E. or dance lessons (to name but a couple of the enrichment choices).

This Monday, September 30th will be a "Coffee with the Principal" from 8:15 am until 9:30 am. Please feel free to drop in and join us on Monday; its a great opportunity to meet other parents, ask questions, and share your advice and ideas! Hope to see you there!

Please remember to use Echo to access our student / family handbook, bell schedules, calendar, and email contact lists. Just click on the Echo tab called, "Resources" and then click on "School Resource Library." To get to the Echo Homepage, go to: https://echo.newtechnetwork.org/  As a parent, you have your own parent account and password. You are also permitted to use your student's log in name and password to access Echo. If you need help with your Echo account or if you have forgotten your password, please email our Technology Support IA, Shaun Keeler, at skeeler@newtechhigh.org

Stay connected to your student and our school through Echo!

Friday, October 4th, is a non-school day for New Tech students (the rest of NVUSD has school that day).

Sincerely,
Michelle Spencer
