WELCOME BACK!
I hope you had a great, restful and fun break. Coming back to school and adjusting to the pace of school work and meeting deadlines can be challenging at times. I want to take a minute to help you prioritize and keep a few deadlines at your for front. This email is meant to be friendly reminder and not a stress inducing reminder :). Please read carefully and you may also want to add it to your own personal calendar.
For Seniors: “Seniors and parents of seniors, a few reminders for those students applying to four-year colleges: First, the UC and CSU college application deadline is November 30th, however, it is wise to submit applications well before the 30th, since the websites and networks often get bogged down with so many students trying to submit at the last minute. Check websites for all private and out-of-state colleges about application deadlines. Also, please remember that all SAT and ACT test scores have to be sent to colleges officially through the collegeboard.com andact.org websites. Simply self-reporting your SAT / ACT scores on your applications will not be sufficient. Your applications will not be considered complete until colleges receive test scores directly from collegeboard and act. Colleges need the scores to be sent directly to them through collegeboard.com and / or act.org”
For Sophomores and Juniors: “Students and parents: I will be working with students during registration, and again later in the spring, to research colleges, careers and options after high school. In order to start researching options for after high school, I recommend that parents and students start looking at the following websites: www.cacareerzone.org ; www.californiacolleges.edu ; www.calapprenticeship.org ; www.cappex.com, and www.collegeconfidential.com
In addition to these websites, there are many more listed on the New Tech High Website, under the College/Careers link, and in the ECHO "NTHS Counselinig 101 File"under Web Resources. Winter Break offers a perfect opportunity to start thinking ahead and researching options. I will continue to be available for appointments to discuss career, college and options for after high school.”
