I hope that you and your family had a relaxing Spring Break. Welcome back; we're in the "final stretch" to the end of the school year. It will be here before you know it. Please read through this bulletin closely, as there are a lot of year-end events and activities.
New Tech was visited by a team representing the California Distinguished School committee who was validating whether we qualify for this honor a second time. Thank you to all the parents who came out and met with the visiting committee. They were so impressed with the school, and seemed to really value all that the parents had to say. I also heard that you said incredibly nice things about the school and its staff; so thank you for all of your support.
If you have a tenth grader, pat your student on the back. The results came in from the state on the California High School Exit Exam and our first time test-takers (10th graders) did fantastic! Here's a bar graph of our 10th grade "passing rates" over the past four years:
A few students missed the exit exam due to illness, and it is critically important that they take the make up exam on Tuesday, May 14th (English) and Wednesday, May 15th (math). If your tenth grader missed either one of those exams, please put these dates on your calendar and be sure they attend school. For students who did not pass the Exit Exam the first time, please don't worry~ those students came very close to passing, and we have systems and support structures in place to help ensure that those students pass before they graduate! We are so proud of the effort our tenth graders put forth, and the progress they are making academically. Your students individual results should be arriving in the mail very soon.
Progress reports will be arriving in the mail on or around Saturday, April 20th. The second grading period of the Spring semester ends on Friday, April 12. Encourage your student to turn in all those assignments as soon as possible.
The next Coffee with the Principal will occur on Monday, April 15th from 8:15 am until 9:30. You are encouraged to drop in and meet~ hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Michelle Spencer
