Directing Change Project

The ROP Digital Media Arts Program at New Technology High School will be participating in the State-wide media competition, Directing Change (http://www.directingchange.org/). Students will be writing, producing, and directing public service announcements (PSA) addressing Suicide Prevention and Eliminating Mental Health Stigma. The competition is sponsored through MHSA (Prop 63) funds and provides an opportunity to students to learn about and add their voice to these critical topics. This is a topic close to home for our students as they struggle to meet the demands of our high tech, always on culture.

We would like groups or individuals who would be willing to participate in any of three ways:
  1. Provide your expertise during the launch of this project to inform students about the topics and provide perspective by coming to our classroom and speaking about your experience.
  2. Mentor students in the creation of their PSA's to help guide their process and help them make a real impact for our community.
  3. Evaluate the PSA's on a judging panel to provide students with valuable real world feedback on their work prior to submitting it to the competition.
We will start work on January 7, 2013 and be complete before the competition deadline March 1.

If you can help in any of these ways, please contact:
