Students, here are some great websites to start researching job and career options, colleges and other choices for after high school. Winter break is a good opportunity to start thinking ahead, doing some research, AND making some college campus visits. All students should start to explore these sites. www.cacareerzone.org - California Career Zone helps you research the vast array of job and career choices available to you, and see what the educational pathway is that is required of particular careers or jobs. Fun interest surveys!
www.bigfuture.org – Big Future is a very good website that has information, videos and articles about college. You can do a nationwide search of colleges or screen for particular states. This website has good information about colleges, majors, money for college and steps to get you started thinking about the right type of college for you.
www.calapprenticeship.org – This apprenticeship website is the link to all hands-on training programs in California for the trades. This “earn while you learn” options allows individuals to become trained and licensed in a particular trade while you earn a salary from day one. Medical and dental coverage is also provided. This is a good route for those students who want to get out of high school and start working.
www.californiacolleges.edu – This website is the go-to site for all colleges in California. You can search colleges, and there are links to the UC’s, CSU’s, Private Colleges and the Community Colleges.
Community College Vocational Programs - REMEMBER – the Community Colleges all have career and vocational programs that they offer, as well, for specific job fields, which can be the least expensive way to obtain job training. You have to look down the list alphabetically, and then click on the name of the program to see the colleges that offer it.
www.todaysmilitary.com - This website has links to all of the branches of the military. It also
has links to various military careers and the requirements for being recruited for the different branches.
