Message from the Principal

I've got good news, parents~

Due to our strong working relationship and commitment to each other, New Tech and Napa Valley College have arranged special opportunities and supports to help ensure our students get access to college classes. New Tech will have the following courses offered on our campus, taught by college professors, beginning in January. Seats will be held exclusively for New Tech students:

COMS 100: Introduction to Computer Systems (3 units; UC/CSU). Tues 4:30-5:45 Hybrid (30 seats)

DART 130: Introduction to Digital Imaging (3 units; CSU). Tu / Thur 3:15-5:35 (12 seats)

ADMJ 124: Introduction to Investigation (3 units; CSU). Tu / Thur 10:30-11:45 (18 seats)

BUSI 143: Entrepreneurial Business Plan (3 units; CSU) Mon 3-4:30 Hybrid (30 seats)

I am also trying to purchase an advanced math class exclusively for New Tech students to be offered on our campus. If this contract is approved by NVUSD and the Board of Trustees, the course will be:

MATH 108: Trigonometry (3 units; CSU) Pre-requisite Math 106 or equivalent. Tu / Thur 1:10-3:35

The college will be sending a representative to New Tech on the first day of high school concurrent registration, January 7th. By providing this service directly to New Tech, at our school, none of our students will need to wait in long lines at the college, nor miss their first day back after Winter Break. We will call students out of class beginning at 9 am. Seniors will go first, then Juniors, then Sophomores. This system will absolutely be more efficient than going to Napa Valley College! Plan on being here our first day back on January 7th.

All students planning to register for any Napa Valley College course should have already completed a "High School Concurrent Enrollment" form and have turned it in to the New Tech office. We will be using those forms to create a new master schedule for students who want to take the above listed courses that have guaranteed seats held. Your student will receive confirmation that they are in one of the above college classes before leaving for Winter Break!

For students wanting to take any other courses at NVC, they will get to register for them right here at New Tech on January 7th. If your student did not already complete a "High School Concurrent Enrollment" form, and have it signed by you, they need to do that immediately! Those forms must be turned into the New Tech Administration Office as soon as possible.

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Holiday. We have less than 3 weeks to go until our Winter Break! Stay safe and warm in this blustery weather!

Sincerely,
Michelle Spencer
