This year marked the debut of the World Savvy Challenge, a revamped version of an annual competition formerly known as the World Affairs Challenge. It was held on Saturday, March 17, at San Francisco State University. Three teams competed on behalf of New Tech, representing both the Speech & Debate and International Current Events classes. The team known as Lexie, We Have Blue Tape If You're Interested took the coveted 1st Place prize in the Senior Division/Performance category with their performance of North Korea: The Musical. Congratulations, LWHBTIYI!!
Various individual students also returned with prizes for their work on the Action Roundtable portion of the competition, in which students were teamed up with students from other schools to determine which organization most deserved funding for its work in sustainability issues.
