Message From The Principal

You Are Invited~

Please join us for Parents On Campus Day on Tuesday, April 15th from 8 am until 3:00 pm. Many parents attended our Fall Parents on Campus Day, which took place on a Monday. Our Spring day will occur on a Tuesday, so that you can visit your student's 2nd, 4th, and 6th periods! We have special workshops scheduled throughout the day, so if your student doesn't want you in his or her classses for the whole period, assure them that you will be attending parent workshops. Feel free to join us for any portion of the day, or to stay the entire time from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. Here is the complete schedule of workshops which you may attend throughout the day, so you can start planning right now. We look forward to having you join us on Tuesday, April 15th.

Coffee with the Principal will occur on Monday, April 7th from 8:15 to 9:15 am. Please feel free to drop in at the office. The "Coffee" is a great way to meet other parents and ask questions or share ideas with me!

Please see below for a message from our Assistant Principal, Tom Solberg. We want to thank him for his dedication and inspiration for these past eight years, and we wish him all the best on his next adventure.

The next grading period ends on Friday, April 11th. Next year's master calendar is still under development, based on requests for courses that your students made on their course request cards. Incoming 9th graders will complete their course request cards on the evening of April 9th (6:30 - 8:00 pm). We are thrilled to let you know about a special opportunity that we were just recently awarded: Thanks to the ambition and initiative of our amazing Chemistry teacher, Angelene Warnock, New Technology will be offering Computer Science classes through a program called TEALS. TEALS (Technology, Education and Literacy in Schools) is a program that recruits, mentors and places passionate high tech professionals into high school classes as co-teachers. Next year a team of four local high tech professionals will bring their subject knowledge and join our current teacher, Angelene Warnock in a team-teaching model. For the 2014-15 school year, New Tech will offer "Introduction to Computer Science Principals." In the 2015-16 school year, we will add a second course, "Advanced Placement Computer Science." The introductory class is based on the award winning UC Berkeley CS10 course and is adapted for high school students in conjunction with UC Berkeley. Your student will be sent an email next week (a google form) where they can express their interest in taking our new Computer Science class.
