What is La Strada?

La Strada is a street art festival. Street Art is the use of chalk literally to create art on the street. It is a kind of zen exercise for the artist because the creation is so short-lived. It is art of art's sake and it is art for community's sake.

Community artists and student artists take to the pavement in the New Tech parking lot to create either an individual or team chalk art offering the day of the event. La Strada has grown from exclusively street art to a festival celebrating all forms of artistic creativity. We invite students and professionals to donate all mediums of art work for a silent auction, we encourage artistis to share their process with us by manning demonstration or lecture booths, and we support student clubs and classes in presenting make-art activities in fundraising booths.

Top it off with live entertainment and home made Mexican food from our parent volunteers and you have a day of total cultural immersion and elevation! This is New Tech's day to shine in the community as a special environment for art, expression and learning. Join us for fun and inspiration and help the Penguin Parent Club raise money to invest in the special students and staff of New Tech.

How can you help?
Attend the next La Strada meeting on March 5 at 7 PM or contact Carolyn Defur lastradacoordinator@newtechhigh.org or Pam Reeves lastrada5@newtechhigh.org to volunteer for committee work in preparation or to work the day of the festival.
