Video Game Addiction

Hello Parents,

We see it at school so we know you experience it at home even more.  Students that are addicted to video games and other online distractions pay far less attention at school leading to poor grades and antisocial behavior.  These are very serious issues and we need to work as a team to better support your child.

All parents need to read this article.  Even though you may not think this is your kid, read it anyway.  Knowledge is power.
Video Game Addiction Is No Fun

1. They neglect relationships often to play their favorite games.
2. They neglect their responsibilities.
3. They neglect their health and well being.
4. They become irritated or angry when forced to miss playing time.
5. They have physical symptoms from playing too much. Headaches, dry eyes, insomnia, carpal tunnel syndrome, backaches.

If you believe your son or daughter has a serious issue with spending too much time or inappropriate usage of the internet, do something about it.  Monitor their activity, set rules for internet usage and apply clear consequences when your trust in them is broken.

Also, our Peer Mentoring program will be offering Friday Sessions next semester for students that feel their internet habit is out of control.  The sessions will include professional counselors that specialize in addition for adolescence. Please contact Mrs. Martinez privately through email to have your child considered for these sessions.
