Principal's Message

Can you believe it, there are just 12 more days of the school year left (but who's counting)! Thank you to all of you who so generously donated snacks and waters to our students for the CSTs. We tried to keep our schoolwide testing as minimally disruptive to the school culture as possible, and it took us two weeks to get through them all. You will receive your student's results in the mail sometime in October.

Please note~ this Friday, May 17th, is NOT a furlough day any more. There is school tomorrow.  It is a regular "late start" Friday, so please be sure your student is at school by 8:50 am.

All parents, family, and friends of students at all grade levels are invited to attend our Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, June 4th, at Memorial Stadium. Commencement begins at 7:00 pm.

All parents of current students also are invited to our Awards and Scholarship Ceremony on Friday, May 24th at 8:30 am. Your student needs to arrive to class that day at 8:20 am, and report to Advisory. We will have a special schedule on May 24th. Seniors will receive scholarships from members of the community, and students at all grade levels will be recognized for a variety of curriculum awards and other New Tech awards (such as "Perfect Attendance"). This awards ceremony takes place outside, in the sunshine, so you are encouraged to wear a hat and sunscreen (and to remind your student to wear both too) that day.

Parents of Seniors: Here is a link to Important Dates for Seniors. This list has been emailed to your student several times already, but it is probably worth reminding your senior about them again so that nothing gets overlooked.

An exciting report (2013 Student Outcomes) summarizing the tremendous success of the New Tech model can be viewed here, for those of you who love data. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Michelle Spencer
