From There to Here- A Journey of Internship Success!

Dear Parents,

As you know, New Tech High School Internship is now a part of the newly create District Wide Internship Program. I began my position as District Internship Coordinator a mere one week before the start of the 2012-2013 school year. I remember that first week scrambling to determine past internship processes, future internship goals and everything in between. I knew my goal was to create a program that was "relevant and meaningful" for students, but everything else was up in the air. With that goal in mind and the guidance of the class of 2013, the District Internship Program was born!

During the course of this school year, the vision and processes continually changed, as your students helped me to shape the program for a District Wide audience. Each challenge we faced was worked through with the goal of "relevant and meaningful" in mind. I am more than happy to say that based on our statistics from this year's program shared below, we have MORE than exceeded my initial goal, and surpassed the expectations of many. Please take a moment to soak in the information below. To celebrate this success, the Class of 2013 is hosting a "Celebrate Internship! Employer Appreciation Event" at Embassy Suites on May 29th to show our appreciation to the mentor businesses who helped us to reach these amazing numbers. More information on the event will follow:

  •  81% of students polled agree their internship experience shaped their educational path.
  •  74% of students polled agree their internship experience had a direct and significant impact on their career choice.
  • After the internship experience, 48% of students polled were offered to continue their work with the organization!
  • Perhaps most impressively, 32% of students polled were offered a paid internship or job with the organization!
