The year is quickly winding to a close and will be here before we know it. Thank you to all of you who attended our first ever "Parents On Campus" Day on Monday, April 9th. We received very good feedback overall, but would like to hear from each and every one of you (students, staff, parents) whether you attended or not! We are intending to repeat "Parents On Campus" next Spring, and want to make it even better! Please take 5 minutes to respond to the survey, called "Parents On Campus 2012 Survey", below.
Next week is the start of our California Standards Tests (CSTs). A complete schedule of all testing dates and topics is available at this link. Please be sure that your child attends school on all days of testing, and that they have a good breakfast and a good night's sleep the night before. CSTs are important to New Tech's public reputation, and they also matter to the student because we use the results to determine proper placement in support courses. Additionally, we have initiated something new called, "New Tech Celebrates Success" to recognize students who score proficient or advanced, or who make improvements and show growth in English and math. Look for more information on "New Tech Celebrates Success" with your child's next progress report.
Speaking of progress reports, we are processing them right now. On Tuesday, April 24th they will be ready for pick up at the school. When you are dropping off or picking up your student, on Tuesday, April 24th only, please take one extra minute to come inside and get your students progress report. We are trying to save money on postage as well as being environmentally conscious. Any unclaimed progress reports will be mailed home on Wednesday.
With just 7 more weeks of school remaining, we are making the final push with our Family Giving Program. As you remember during the very first month of school, we asked that every family donate to our family giving program. If every family were to donate $500 per year, we could ensure the continuation of
- virus-free, wireless internet access
- one-on-one computing environment
- free student access to computers, printers and IT support
If you have already contributed, we thank you. If you have not yet contributed, we need your contribution asap. Please make a donation online through our website or bring cash or a check to New Tech's Office.
Sincerely,
Michelle Spencer, Principal
