Every year New Tech High engages in a school wide community service event, Tech Lends a Hand. Every student at New Tech High sets out into the world to lend a helping hand on that day.
This year, many students expressed a strong interest in performing a beach clean up as a community service project. This was initiated by a student presentation on waste from Japan's tsunami headed for the California coast and the environmental impact of garbage on our coast. We have 70 students who are excited to venture out and engage in a beach clean at Ocean Beach in San Francisco up as their Tech Lends a Hand project this May 31st.
We are hoping for 5 parent chaperones to join us for this event from 8am until 3pm. Chaperones will have to bring their own lunches, water, snacks, and sunscreen but will ride on the bus to/from the beach with students.
